Eishan Nazari Trading Company is an import, export and wholesale distribution business in Kabul. It trades with Pakistan, Türkiye, Central Asia and Europe. We designed and built its website in English, Turkish, Dari and Pashto. It has 60 static pages with mirrored right-to-left layouts, a custom markets map and an enquiry form. Every page is generated by a scripted build pipeline.

The brief

Eishan Nazari Trading Company was founded in 2018 in Kabul, Afghanistan, and works in import, export and wholesale distribution. The client asked for a website in four languages, switchable from any page. It had to look designed by hand rather than assembled from a template. The content had to use only facts the company had confirmed, and the photography was supplied by the client. The site needed to be easy to extend with new products and to run as static files on Netlify.

Four languages, two directions

The site has 60 pages: a home page plus 11 product pages and 3 trade-lane pages in each language. Each language has its own URLs, linked with hreflang tags. Dari and Pashto pages run right-to-left, with mirrored layouts, Persian numerals and translated screen-reader labels. The type pairs a self-hosted, subset Archivo variable font for Latin text with Vazirmatn for Arabic script.

Design system

The design system is a single stylesheet on a 12-column grid. Its colours come from the logo, which we traced to vector, set on a warm paper tone with a fine grain. Other details: a company register card with a seal, a live Kabul office-hours clock, an enquiry form that reads the visitor’s request back before it is sent, and country flags drawn for their actual display size.

Markets and trade routes

The markets map is an SVG with trade routes that draw outward from Kabul. Each trade-lane page has its own route map, cut from it by a build script.

Motion and accessibility

Motion consists of a one-time logo intro, reveals on scroll and scroll-linked details. All of it switches off for users who prefer reduced motion, and the intro is skipped on any key press. Keyboard support includes a skip link, visible focus, a gallery lightbox and a contact panel that closes with Esc.

Technical approach

A Python pipeline crops the photos into AVIF and WebP files, with larger versions for high-density screens. It generates every page from shared content files, along with structured data, the sitemap and llms.txt. A script checks that all four languages share the same 214 translation keys and that every translated element on every page has text. Headless-browser test suites cover all 60 pages: page loads, layout at nine screen widths down to 320px, the fit of the phone hero, and interactions. The site is deployed to Netlify with Netlify Forms and a content security policy.

Why it isn’t templated

It uses no framework, theme or UI kit. The CSS is written by hand. Layout and typography decisions are made per script, such as right-to-left mirroring and the choice of numerals.
